Refuge
In this Hope in the Dark series, we’ve read the word terrified several times. The disciples were terrified. The crew of Paul’s ship was terrified. Jonah was terrified.
You know that feeling, too. It’s the sweaty palms and the knot in the pit of your stomach. Its’ the feeling you cannot shake no matter how hard you try. You feel it in the air. It’s the thing that keeps you tossing and turning at night. The thread of distraction that runs throughout your day. It’s in every news report and as you open your social media? It makes your heart race. When it feels like the world is crumbling around us, deep down we know—it’s not supposed to be this way. The Good news is that we are not left to face our fear alone. We have a God who loves us and protects us.
THE BIG IDEA: God is always ready to help in times of trouble.
